What is the GSA?

The Graduate Students' Association is here to enrich your graduate experience. The GSA Website is the most up-to-date source of information for graduate students at the University of Guelph. It's a valuable source of information for graduate students - containing information about the health and dental plans, Grad Lounge events, important dates, and links to a number of other useful websites. Check here often for the most up-to-date information about what the GSA is doing for you.

The last GSA Board Meeting for the Winter 2012 term will be held on April 18th, Rm 441 U.C., pizza served at 5:15 p.m. meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.


The GSA Election and Referendum Results are in: 


AMIR MOSTAGHIM has been elected to the position of PRESIDENT (68% support, 17% abstain).

 ANNE LAARMAN has been elected to the position of V.P. INTERNAL (78% support, 16% abstain).


SHAWNA HOLMES has been elected to the position of V.P. FINANCE (76% support, 14% abstain).


JOSE LUIS RODRIGUEZ has been elected to the position of V.P. EXTERNAL (83% support, 11% abstain)

.
The position of V.P. ACTIVITIES was uncontested and details of a by-election will be announced.

The referendum proposal has been rejected. 38% of students voted in favour, 58% of students voted against and 7% of students abstained. 

Voter turnout was between 312 and 326 for the various proposals on the ballot. Detailed results can be obtained on request from  Andrew Skelton (skeltona@uoguelph.ca) or Erin Angus (eangus@uoguelph.ca).

Who is a member of the GSA? As a full or part-time graduate student, you are a member of the Graduate Students' Association (GSA), which is your official representative at the University of Guelph. Whether in negotiations with university administration, participation on various university committees, or through interaction with other student organizations on campus, the GSA is making sure the interests of graduate students are taken into consideration. 

  

GSA Governing Body   The GSA is operated by a Board of Directors consisting of an elected Executive Committee and two General Directors from each department on campus. A list of the Executive Committee and General Directors can be found on this site in the 'About' section.Meetings of the GSA Board are held monthly.  The meeting schedule can be found in your GSA Daily Planner. Meetings are open to all currently registered graduate students. Monthly board meeting minutes and GSA bylaws are available for download on this site in the 'By-Laws' section.
